I have a FHA home loan with escrow. When my home owners insurance came due the bank would not pay?
asked:
The bank finally admitted it was their mistake and paid the homeowners insurance. I am now realizing that there will not be enough to cover my property tax. Will the bank make up the difference or will I be responsible for paying the balance of my property tax?

Is Title Insurance required for a private sale of a home?
AnonEMouse asked:
We are refinancing our home (Long Island , New York) and and open permit showed up on the title from 60 years ago! This never came up when my parents bought the house in 1977, but it was a private sale. It also never came up in 2001 when the home was transferred over to me. I should also mention that we used the same lawyer for both transactions. I am wondering if title insurance is only required by mortgage banks or if it a legal requirement for any sale of a home.

Is it possible my insurance agent over-valued my home?
cellophane_pioneer asked:
I suspect that the value placed on my home by my insurance agent is way high. Is there some way I could confirm and/or refute his valuation?
I live in Buffalo, NY and my house is like 750 sf with no basement and they set the replacement cost at $110K.
I can’t make heads or tails of that zillow.com site.

Why did my homeowner’s insurance and taxes increase as the value of my home decreased?
Olivia asked:
I bought a home in November 2007, so a year ago. We got a letter from the tax assesor’s office stating that the value of our home had decreased. Yet, our taxes went up by over $300.00 a year starting in 2009. Also, my homeowner’s insurance was raised $50.00 a year with no letter of explanation or anything. Any ideas why? Thanks.
