How costly is it 2have hardwood floors redone? Also, will homeowners insurance pay 2 fix foundation problem?
caddi814 asked:
I want to have someone come in & sand and refinish my harwood floors. Ive been told to just rent a sander myself, but a friend i know did that & ended up with “humps” in her flooring, and eventually just covered it up with carpet. So I def. want to leave it up to the professionals. I live in Northern Alabama, my house is 2,200 square feet aproximately. But two of my rooms are carpets, hence, it wouldnt apply to those rooms. is it unheard of for the flooring company to do finiancing with them [it would help].
Also my ceiling has cracks now, and the doors wont shut all the way [so im almost certain its a foundation problem]. My mom just paid $4,000 for her foundation to be fixed. =( that’s too much. any chance homeowners insurance will pay for that?

Buying home for first time, can someone tell me about homeowners insurance?
crymeariver asked:
My husband and I are about to close on a home and would like to know some about homeowners insurance. We are planning on getting it through our car insurance company, but just want to know if anyone has any advice as to how we can estimate the value of our stuff, any thing important we need to know?

How do you obtain homeowners insurance if your new home won’t be your principal residence right away?
Olivia D asked:
We’re buying a new home and had planned on staying in our rental for a few months while we make some renovations to the new house. However, our insurance company tells us that they won’t give us a homeowners policy unless our new home is our principal residence within one month of our closing date. Does this mean we have to tell our insurance company that our new home is our principal residence, even though it won’t be until approx. August?

Also, our insurance company will cancel our renters policy, since they’ll assume that we’ll no longer need it after we close on our house. This isn’t true, because we had wanted to stay in our current apartment for a few months more. Has anyone encountered a similiar situation, and if so, how did you handle it? Thanks so much.

Is there a way to find out a persons homeowners insurance?
littlebittykittycat0226 asked:
My daughter broke her arm at daycare. It turns out the lady doesn’t have liability insurance. She refuses responsibility and won’t give me info. Is there a way to find out her homeowners insurance carrier? (This is in KS)
More details, my daughter fell off a swing at the daycares house. First of all ,she is 5 and was left unsupervised. Second, she was swinging on a swing that was too high for her, the seat was about level with her chest. And last but not least, the daycare provider did not have the appropriate insurance, which I have found out is required by this state in order to be a licensed caregiver, so she is in trouble with the state for not having that insurance. I’m guessing an attorney is my only option.

Which is more likely to be covered by homeowners insurance?
dsjnix asked:
Is homeowners insurance more likely to cover damages to a subfloor caused by an invisible long term leak from plubming in the wall or by damages caused by a shorter term leak from a dishwasher? Or would they typically cover neither? And why will they not pay for our dinners out when we have no use of our kitchen for several weeks?
